Marc Bertel is an artist and filmmaker whose moving and still image works operate at the intersection of documentary practices, archival gestures and community engagement. For the past ten years he has been developing an artistic project with his adopted family and friends in South Central Los Angeles, producing films, publications and interventions rooted in the mutual trust established long before. Throughout these collaborations art is understood as a potent tool to activate communal bonds, unimpaired by the specter of race and class.
